A slightly crunchy Mom's thoughts

It's Saturday night and all is quiet...for the moment. I've had a longish day with the boy because my husband has been working and then out with friends. As usual, I'm thinking about sleep and my child. I worry about how I'm going to get him to stop nursing to sleep for naps and stop nursing at night because sooner or later these things are going to have to come to pass. If I have another baby in the next year or so, I'm not going to be able to nurse he-who-must-not-sleep down for his nap every day and I'm sure as hell not going to be nursing two kids during the night unless I have twins (heaven forbid). The lazy in me does not want to work on this. The realist in me knows I have to, sooner or later. Probably the sooner the better.

sidenote: the dang cat was shut in the guest room/office all day and now is dying for attention and trying to love me and step on the keyboard. Kitten on the keys, har har.

Anyhoo, the big question: should we move our dear son to his room? He still sleeps with us, sort of, sometimes in the crib that's side-carred to the bed, but often ending up snuggled up to me. Maybe if he doesn't feel our movements he won't wake up as much. Maybe. I dunno.

Long day...going to go now. Don't forget to wear pants!

Why do people think nothing of letting their children cry as a method of teaching them to sleep? Responsive parenting is fine during the day, but not at night, so many parents are only willing to forgo sleep for the first few months, then that child better sleep through the night, darn it. Don't have kids if you don't want to make some sacrifices for them. How horrible for a baby, to sit alone in a room, by themselves, to cry out for their father and mother, and no one comes. grrrr.....

I hate my job. My boss is annoying me so badly these days. I want to stay home with my baby boy.

On the up side of things, cloth diapering is going well! My little guy didn't like the all-in-ones, but he is doing fine with the fitted diapers, so, yay!

I think I'll wrap up. *yawn*
